GoCoin enables SMS billing

Virtual currency company helps merchants accept bitcoin and alternative coing such as litecoin and dogecoin.

GoCoin, an e-commerce payment product designed to handle both bitcoin and emerging alternative coins at checkout, late last week released a Click-to-Bill feature to enable merchants to accept digital currency payments from their customers, according to a press release.

Merchants can now create invoices and request payment via email or text message directly from their GoCoin Dashboard. Billing is also enabled through the GoCoin API for merchants looking to generate custom WYSIWYG forms, according to a statement.

For SMS invoices, a customer receives an alert on their mobile device with a link to view the bill. Clicking it launches their bitcoin wallet, where they are prompted to select their preferred currency and submit the payment, according to the announcement.

"Consumers are getting more accustomed to alternative forms of payment, and with SMS billing we're helping merchants replicate the online experience with in-store commerce and account top-ups," Steve Beauregard, co-founder and CEO of GoCoin, said in a statement.

To streamline the payment process GoCoin offers simple plugins for popular e-commerce shopping carts, according to the announcement. The company has recently expanded its open source plugin library to include: WooCommerce, Magento, Prestashop, VirtueMart, ZenCart, OpenCart, OSCommerce, and UberCart.

GoCoin is also offering free office hours with its e-commerce expert engineers to walk merchants through the integration process and how to enhance consumer engagement at checkout, according to the press release. Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis.
