Fortumo brings another Vietnamese carrier online with carrier billing
Mobile operator Vinaphone and Fortumo have launched direct carrier billing on Google Play in Vietnam, according to a press release.
Twenty million Vinaphone subscribers in Vietnam can pay for apps and in-app content in the Google Play store using their airtime balance.
"Vietnam is one of Asia's fastest growing markets for mobile services," Gerri Kodres, chief business officer at Fortumo, said in a statement. "Vinaphone has been able to successfully capitalize on this expansion and enabling Google Play for carrier billing is the logical step for Vinaphone to accelerate the growth further."
Fortumo will also provide Vinaphone access to Fortumo Insight, a statistics and data analytics platform that helps carriers track and analyze the performance of Google Play. This data can then be used to make improvements to the payment infrastructure as well as measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns promoting Google Play account activations and payments, according to the release.
Fortumo now enables Google Play payments for all four major Vietnamese mobile operators: in addition to Vinaphone, the company has already integrated the Google Play payment infrastructure for the mobile operators Viettel, Mobifone and Vietnamobile.
