Foodsby, a lunch ordering and delivery platform that connects office professionals with local and national restaurants, has launched its service in the San Diego market. It's the first in the state of California, and 17th U.S. market, for the brand now competing with DoorDash, Uber Eats and ezCater, according to a company press release.

Foodsby allows employees in office buildings to order lunch online from local restaurants and get it delivered for $1.99 — with no tipping, no minimum and no hidden fees. Customers place orders online or via the Foodsby mobile app with local restaurants, which Foodsby.com manages and aggregates, and each restaurant makes and delivers all meals at once, according to the release.

Unlike its competitors, Foodsby generates revenue for restaurants before their doors open each day with sales during off-peak hours, Foodsby CEO Ben Cattoor said in the release. His partners earn an average of $4,000 per month; an average sale is $168 per Foodsby delivery, and an average of 5,000 consumers see a restaurant’s logo weekly. He said the company's Top 50 restaurant partners, which include Chick-Fil-A, On The Border,  Corner Bakery, Noodles World Kitchen, Famous Dave's, Schlotzky's, Moe's Southwest Grill and McAlister's Deli, see an average $75,000 annual sales increase.

"The best part of our system for restaurants is that restaurant owners and managers work with our team to set the delivery radius, menu items, number of drops on route, first drop time and cut-off time. In short, Foodsby puts restaurants in control of their office lunch delivery business," Cattoor said.

Last August, Foodsby secured $13.5 million in Series B funding, bringing total funding to $21 million for market expansion and talent investment, according to the release.
