First Tech first to offer native Windows phone banking app

First Tech Federal Credit Union has become the first credit union in the United States to introduce a native Windows Phone mobile banking app. So it should come as no surprise that Microsoft is the FCU's largest select employer group.

First Tech launched mobile apps for iOS and Android platforms in August 2012.

The First Tech Windows Phone app is a free download for First Tech members, and it gives them a broad array of banking capabilities right on their Windows Phone:

  • check account balances;
  • view transaction history;
  • make deposits with mobile e-deposit;
  • pay bills;
  • transfer funds between First Tech accounts;
  • find a First Tech branch;
  • search for a nearby branch and get hours and contact info;
  • locate any one of 28,000 ATMs across the U.S. that are free for all First Tech members.

"As Microsoft's credit union, it's very important for us to serve our members and demonstrate our support of the Windows 8 mobile platform," said Greg Mitchell, president and CEO of First Tech Federal Credit Union. "This addition to the First Tech suite of products is yet another step in our plan to provide members with state-of-the-art products and services and the ability to transact anytime and at any place of their choosing."

Mountain View, Calif.-based FCU will launch its new Windows phone app onsite at the main Microsoft campus in Redmond, Wash. giving employees of Microsoft an in-depth look at the new platform.
