FICO rolls out mobile bill payment apps

Predictive analytics and software provider FICO has announced a couple of new mobile applications aimed at the bill payment market. FICO said its new capabilities for payment management and electronic document handling will help businesses manage risk, fight fraud and improve the customer experience through real-time customer contact via mobile devices.

"Just because something is online doesn't mean that it's convenient or easy to use," said Tony McGivern, chief information officer at FICO. "Online banking and bill paying have become commonplace, yet consumers often struggle to find the customer service number when they have a question, or misplace the email telling them that their bill is ready."

McGivern said new additions to the company's mobile services platform will help overcome these challenges and boost customer engagement and profitability in the process.

FICO's Web Collection Module, a new web payment mobile application, will offer businesses the ability to give consumers an easy and quick way to pay their bills. Among its features, the application remembers consumer information, so there's no need to re-enter it for every payment.

Additionally, consumers can make alternate payment arrangements within the application if they are unable to make a full payment. They also receive a notification to their mobile devices when bills are ready to view.

A new electronic document fulfillment application from FICO will enable consumers to view and electronically accept or refuse a document through their mobile devices. It can be used when a business needs a consumer to complete a form, and replaces faxes, email and regular mail with the mobile device.

FICO, best known for its credit scoring and risk management tools, is based in San Jose, Calif.
