Facebook secures Irish e-money license for Messenger P2P payments in Europe
Facebook has secured a long sought-after e-money license in Ireland that will allow the social media company to bring Messenger person-to-person payments to Europe, according to multiple news reports.
Facebook might have been seeking an e-money license in Ireland as far back as March 2014. The company received approval for the license in October.
Facebook told media outlets that the license enables it to roll out Messenger P2P payments throughout Europe. The company launched that feature last year in the U.S.
