ERPLY joins crowded mobile POS field
As if there weren't enough options for a mobile POS system, the market has welcomed one more competitor. ERPLY, a provider of cloud-based POS and retail inventory management solutions, announced its new mobile credit card reader for handheld mobile devices today.
Like competitor Square, the ERPLY system lets merchants use an iPad or iPhone as a point-of-sale terminal to process credit and debit card transactions. ERPLY's system also connects to the company's inventory management system to get real-time data and inventory analytics.
"With our mobile credit card reader, we are providing retailers with the full range of technology options they will need to accept and process payments and make real-time decisions that affect their business," said Kris Hiiemaa, CEO of ERPLY, in the company's announcement.
According to ERPLY, the credit card reader will cost merchants $50 and transaction fees will be 1.9 percent of the transaction value.
The company said its new POS system is designed to meet merchants needs today for processing credit and debit transactions, and will also be ready for NFC payments when those options become more widespread.
"As technology changes, we are giving consumers the ability to pay for items the way they want to, whether it is with cash, credit cards or with NFC technologies in phones," Hiiemaa said. "The ERPLY inventory management backend provides the foundation for our comprehensive POS solution, so retailers are ready for wherever the market may take us."
The ERPLY reader is available now for iPads and will be released for the iPhone in three months, the company said.
ERPLY is based in Tallinn, Estonia, with office s in New York and London.
