Emagine, a company that calls itself a specialist provider of real-time contextual customer marketing software and managed services for mobile providers, recently announced that it has selected VoltDB's in-memory scale-out SQL database for the core of its Emagine Real-Time Event Decisioning platform, according to a press release.

Emagine cited research showing that 54 percent of U.S. and Canadian consumers would consider ending their loyalty relationships if they didn't get tailor-made, relevant content and offers. The company said its Real-Time Event Decisioning platform brings use- and trigger-based marketing campaigns to life by delivering communication and offers instantaneously based on intelligent event detection (e.g., end of a call, use of the mobile device in a particular location, or hitting a particular data use threshold). This can enable communications service providers to execute campaigns and communications in real time, delivering personalized messages to customers while the mobile device is still in their hands.

"We've been doing campaign execution for CSPs for more than 15 years; in 2015 there is no doubt that CSPs and their customers expect real, real-time personalized interactions," said Emagine International CEO David Peters. "Our Real-Time Event Decisioning platform needed to meet these real-time demands. Emagine said in the announcement that it chose VoltDB because its architecture offers unlimited scalability, a fast operational database and real-time analytics and stream processing for data-intensive applications that rely on fast, smart data. VoltDB enables the Emagine Real-Time Event Decisioning platform to deliver personalized offers to mobile customers in real-time using triggers such as low-balance thresholds, end-of-call notifications and data use within bundle.
