Elavon and California-based Poynt are bringing Poynt's Smart to businesses across Canada, according to a press release.

Poynt is a wireless, dual touchscreen, smart terminal that debuted in 2013.

"Poynt makes the payment experience easy and engaging for customers, which is not something they've experienced with traditional payment terminals," Mia Huntington, general manager of Canada for Elavon. "It builds trust and loyalty for businesses while protecting their payment data. It is also scalable, so it can flex and grow with the business."

Elavon said Poynt is ideal for a variety of business types, including retail, lodging, restaurants and health and wellness. Features for these merchants include real-time reporting, apps, and a built-in scanner and printer coupled with customer-oriented features like a second screen with private tipping options, according to the release.
