Ebay is expanding its managed payments program into Australia and Canada starting later this year, marking the fourth and fifth international markets participating in the plan following the U.S., Germany and the U.K.

The program allows buyers and sellers to conduct transactions using a wider variety of payment options, following a 2018 deal with PayPal that changed the payments acceptance structure at eBay, according to a press release.

"By managing payment on our platform, we are enhancing the eBay experience by breaking down barriers and removing complexities for our customers," Alyssa Cutright, vice president of global payments at Ebay, said in the release. "We're excited to roll out the new experience globally this year, with Australia and Canada joining our global roster of companies."

Buyers in both countries will be able to pay using credit cards and PayPal. Apple Pay can be used as an option on the iPhone and iPad, while Google Pay will be available as an option on the eBay website and the eBay Android app. Afterpay, which allows buyers to buy now and complete payment later, was recently added as an option in Australia, while Paybright was recently added as an option for Canadian buyers.
