Dubai government updates mobile payment app
Asia Pacific Future Gov reports that the Dubai Smart Government Department has launched an update to its mPay app, which allows residents to pay government bills and fines via smartphones.
The app launched in November and has seen 13,000 downloads by iPhone and Android users, the site said, collecting more than AED 15 million ($4 million U.S.) in government fees through almost 53,000 transactions.
With the app, available for Android or iPhone, users can pay police fines, utility and telecom bills, road tolls and public transport fees through their smartphones. The mPay website enables customers to pay for social services and manage auto-payment and multiple accounts.
