Direct carrier biller Bango announces deal with Amazon

U.K.-based mobile analytics and direct carrier biller Bango announced today that it has signed an agreement to provide services to online retailer Amazon. What the services will be, and what this means for payment options on Amazon, is unclear at this time.

The announcement from Bango was brief and provided few details. Terms of the deal were not disclosed and the company said it's too early to tell what effect the agreement will have on future business.

Bango provides a platform that lets online consumers pay for purchases by placing them on their monthly phone bills. Direct carrier billing is especially popular for digital content, gaming and social media where young consumers may not have access to bank accounts or credit and debit cards.

Currently, Amazon, the world's largest online retailer, does not offer a direct carrier billing option to any customers, including those buying digital content where no physical goods are shipped.
