Citi is rolling out its Citibank for iPad app worldwide, with plans to introduce the app in markets in Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Europe through 2013. The announcement indicates Citi's strategy to treat tablets as a distinct customer service channel, as well as the rapid growth of that channel worldwide.

Unlike a smartphone mobile banking app, the Citi iPad app includes features tailored for a larger screen, including graphs and visual displays of information about a customer's account.

"The rollout of Citibank for iPad marks the most recent example where Citi has helped to simplify the lives of its customers by bringing them top-tier digital banking wherever they are in the world," said Marc Luet, Citi's CEO of consumer banking in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Citi services more than 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 160 countries.
