A study from Citi Retail Services found that 42 percent of consumers planned to holiday shop via smartphones or tablets, and 13 percent planned to use virtual assistants, mainly in the form of voice-controlled smart speakers using Alexa, Siri or another technology, according to a company release.

The survey found that 55 percent of millennials and 48 percent of Gen Xers planned to shop using a mobile device. The study also showed that 22 percent of Gen Xers will shop using a voice assistant, while 17 percent of millennials will use the smart speakers.

The study of 1,000 consumers found that 73 percent of consumers still planned to shop at brick-and-mortar stores, and 57 percent planned to shop using their regular computers.
