Citi offers fee waivers, hardship assistance amid coronavirus impact

Citi announced several measures, including fee waivers, hardship programs and extended banking help, to help retail customers and small businesses with help to mitigate the impact of the new coronavirus.

"This is a rapidly evolving situation and we want our customers to know we are here to provide assistance should they need it," Anand Selva, chief executive officer of Citi’s U.S. consumer bank. "We continue to monitor developments closely and will evaluate additional actions to support our clients and communities as needs arise."

Retail bank customers can get waivers on monthly service fees and waiving penalties on early withdrawal for CD accounts.

Small business customers are being offered waivers on monthly service fees and remote deposit capture fees. The bank normally charrges a $65 fee to small business customers for remote deposit capture and charges $40 to clients in its preferred program, according to a spokesman. Bankers will be available after hours and on weekends for additional help.

Citi is encouraging customers to use its mobile and online banking portal or sue one of 65,000 ATMs to access account information, make deposits, transfer funds or conduct other transactions.
