Chick-fil-A calls up dine-in mobile ordering nationwide

Chick-fil-A said it's eliminating the need to stand in line or order at the counter for its in-restaurant guests by introducing dine-in mobile ordering at stores nationwide today. With the new option diners choose their orders through the brand's app to have it delivered directly to their table by a restaurant team member, a news release said.

Here's how the process works for in-restaurant guests:

  • Diner orders via the Chick-fil-A app.
  • Diner finds in-restaurant table.
  • Diner taps smartphone to that table number.
  • Food is delivered to that location.

Chick-fil-A has integrated near field communication technology into the table numbers, which enables guests to simply tap their phone on the table number to check in.

"As we continue to grow and evolve Chick-fil-A's digital experience, we're focused on how the design of the physical restaurant environment can make the ordering and meal fulfillment journey even more seamless and enjoyable for our guests," Chick-fil-A Director of Service and Hospitality Khalilah Cooper said in the release.

Chick-fil-A began testing dine-in mobile ordering in 2018 at 80 restaurants in Tampa, Nashville, Seattle, San Francisco and Silicon Valley, Califoria. Since the test began, 92% of customers surveyed that used dine-in mobile ordering at the test sites found the feature appealing due to ease and convenience.

Customers can order from the full Chick-fil-A menu with this feature and will receive Chick-fil-A One points toward rewards with dine-in mobile ordering. The brand will continue to take orders at the front counter and drive-thru at its more than 2,400 restaurants in 47 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada.
