Chase Pay to retire stand-alone app in early 2020, expand integration with merchant sites

JPMorgan Chase said it will shut down the standalone Chase Pay app in early 2020, however, it will expand the use of the app in merchant apps, including GrubHub and others, in the next few months.

"We continue to focus on our customers and they are using the Chase Pay button on merchant websites and in merchant apps, and now their tap-to-pay Chase cards more than ever," Eric Connoly, head of Chase Pay, said in a company release. "So, we're shifting our focus to expand Chase Pay's presence in more merchant apps and websites."

Chase Pay is already integrated into websites and merchant apps with Starbucks, Shell, United Airlines and Atom Tickets, according to the release.
