Carrier biller mopay forms Latin American partnership with paymentez

Direct carrier biller mopay inc has announced a new partnership aimed at the Latin American market. The company has formed a partnership with Brazilian alternative payments network paymentez.

Mopay will add its direct carrier billing method for single and recurring online payments to paymentez' existing payment methods, including an in-app solution for the Android platform, according to the announcement.

"With more than four-million registered users, paymentez is the leading Latin American payments network," said Kolja Reiss, mopay's managing director. "As a trusted provider of alternative payment solutions, the company needed a partner that could help expand its offerings with a mobile payments option and mopay was the clear choice."

Reiss said that Latin America ranks among the fastest growing online gaming markets in the world and expectations are that its ecommerce market will double the growth rates of the rest of the world by 2014.

Paymentez is a monetization platform for micro-transactions for digital goods and content. It provides services throughout Latin America and will give mopay access to more than 30 of the most popular online and social games in Latin America, the announcement said.

"Since Latin America has a very high mobile penetration rate, offering a mobile payments method is key to achieving both," said Juan Franco, CEO and founder of paymentez. "With mopay we are able to offer a fast, easy and secure mobile payment method to our international user base."

As a direct carrier biller, mopay allows consumers to pay for content by placing the purchase directly on their monthly mobile phone bill. The online customer simply enters his mobile phone number as the payment method and then confirms the payment by entering the PIN sent to his mobile phone via SMS.
