CardFlight takes off with EMV mPOS

The EMV-ready card readers pair with CardFlight's SwipeSimple mobile POS product.

CardFlight, a mobile point-of-sale provider, today announced the availability of EMV-ready chip card readers for its SwipeSimple mobile point-of-sale solution.

"While some providers have announced plans to offer mobile EMV card readers, CardFlight is one of the first to actually make them available for purchase and deployment in the United States," Derek Webster, founder and CEO of CardFlight, said in a statement.

CardFlight is already in EMV certification testing with multiple leading processors and expects to achieve full certification with multiple providers during the second quarter of 2015, according to the statement.

"By offering the EMV-ready readers today, CardFlight's partners can be confident that they are giving their merchants future-proof hardware that will last well beyond the October 2015 EMV liability shift," Webster said.

The readers also contain an encrypted magnetic stripe reader, which allows merchants to accept payment even if a card doesn't contain an EMV chip or if their processor isn't yet fully supported for EMV transactions.

The EMV-ready card readers pair with CardFlight's SwipeSimple mobile POS product, according to the announcement. Launched in 2014, SwipeSimple includes encrypted mobile card readers, payment acceptance applications for iOS and Android devices, a real-time reporting and admin dashboard for merchants, and a reseller portal for easy onboarding and portfolio management. Transactions are processed through CardFlight's PCI-DSS Level 1-compliant payment gateway.

SwipeSimple is a product of CardFlight although CardFlight does not sell the product to merchants directly. Rather, SwipeSimple is offered by a network of dozens of resellers including leading banks, merchant service providers and independent sales organizations. The product can be co-branded or white-labeled to feature each reseller's logo and other pertinent details.

Additionally, the company is announcing that POS Portal will be a launch partner in distributing CardFlight's EMV-ready solutions. POS Portal's bicoastal distribution facilities ship over 1,200 POS devices every day to merchants nationwide, and CardFlight said its EMV-ready readers will be the first EMV-ready mobile card reader solution that POS Portal is offering.

"CardFlight and POS Portal already serve many of the same customers. We're excited to now offer their EMV-ready solutions to the hundreds of our partners that rely on us every day for hardware procurement and deployment," said Joe Villamil, VP of business development at POS Portal.
