Capital One adds NFC mobile payments to Android app

The bank said it used Mastercard's Digital Enablement Service to add the feature.

Capital One Wednesday announced the addition of a contactless mobile payment capability to its Android Capital One Wallet app, according to a press release.

The bank said it used Mastercard's Digital Enablement Service to add the feature.

Capital One will use NFC-enabled Android phones to transmit a secure payment token to the point of sale. Android device users with NFC-enabled devices running v4.4 (Kit Kat) or higher, can now use the Capital One Wallet app to pay for goods and services directly at any contactless acceptance point of sale. This includes almost all new Android smartphones offered today, according to the announcement.

Capital One said it also added a receipt-feature that enables consumers to connect receipts with purchases with their Capital One cards.
