BofA adds support for cardless ATM access via Apple Pay digital wallet

Bank of America has rolled out Apple Pay cardless capability at a limited number of its ATMs, according to various media reports.

The service is available at NFC-enabled ATMs labeled with a contactless payment icon.

According to Bank of America, cardless withdrawal using the Apple Pay wallet requires three simple steps:

  • At the ATM, select the Bank of America debit card from the Apple Pay digital wallet;
  • hold the device over the contactless symbol on the ATM and authenticate using the mobile phone's Touch ID function; and
  • Enter the debit card PIN on the ATM and start the transaction.

At last month's Google IO developer conference, Bank of America announced the launch of Android Pay at ATMs.

Currently, cardholders can withdraw cash, check balances and transfer funds using an Apple or Android digital wallet, however deposit functionality is not yet available, according to the Bank of America website.
