Bitcoin price spikes on Zynga test
Bitcoin prices passed $1,000 on Monday, Jan. 6, following an announcement by the web gaming company Zynga that it is conducting a Bitcoin payment test with Bitcoin service provider BitPay.
The Bitcoin test is available to players of the Zynga.com games FarmVille 2, CastleVille, ChefVille, CoasterVille, Hidden Chronicles, Hidden Shadows and CityVille.
"In response to Bitcoin's rise in popularity around the world, Zynga, with help from BitPay, is testing expanded payment options for players to make in-game purchases using Bitcoin," Zynga said in a post on Reddit.
Zynga asked players to check out the Bitcoin test and provide feedback on their experience.
On Monday, Bitcoin prices reached a high of $1,093, before falling back to $1,018.
