BilltoMobile goes global
Direct carrier biller BilltoMobile announced that its services will soon have a global reach, giving its U.S. merchants access to billions of mobile subscribers in the EU, Asia and South America. The company said that starting next month its digital merchants based in the United States will be able to bill customers of more than 200 carriers in 60 countries through its platform. BilltoMobile said it is partnering in this global effort with Mobile First, a direct-carrier biller with substantial experience and connections to carriers worldwide.
"The global mobile payments market — and in particular the EU — is still very fragmented, and no one payment company has been able to establish the consistency and clear-cut 'best operations and rates' globally that BilltoMobile has been able to attain with our Direct Carrier Billing service across the U.S.," said Jim Greenwell, president and CEO, BilltoMobile.
BilltoMobile said it will be establishing additional partnerships in other regions to connect merchants to more carriers and markets.
"We decided that a 'best-in-class' partnership approach to this fragmented global market was in the best interest of our merchant partner," Greenwell said.
"Carrier billing is evolving rapidly, and there is a lot of confusion in the market about rates, refunds, payment process flows, reporting, accessible channels and more," said Steve Klebe, BilltoMobile's vice president of business development and strategy. He said BilltoMobile is leveraging its position in the U.S. market with new partnerships "to take the risk and guesswork out of the global mobile payments choice for our U.S. merchants."
Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., BilltoMobile is backed by investment from South Korean direct-carrier biller Danal Co. Ltd.
