Beall's plans for future of mobile, NFC payments with VeriFone deployment

Point-of-sale maker VeriFone Systems Inc. announced a new deal with retailer Beall's Inc. VeriFone said it will be supplying its advanced payment and media-enabled solutions system the MX 915. The company will also be providing Beall's its advanced "estate management" solution, VeriFone HQ, which will let the retail chain keep local stores up to date with new payment and mobile solutions.

"We were delighted with MX915 and the alignment with our store systems modernization project to provide flexible payment solutions to our family of outlet stores," said Dave Massey Beall's SVP and CIO. "From the technical perspective, this solution sets the framework for Beall's to readily adapt to future mobile/NFC and EMV, supporting a full complement of payment transactions."

The VeriFone solution that Beall's will be deploying reflects the uncertainty retailers face when surveying the multitude of new payment methods and technologies on the horizon. VeriFone said the solutions provide compatibility with the rapidly evolving mobile/NFC wallets, EMV smartcards, and alternative payment methods and will adapt as more payment methods are introduced.

Beall's Inc. is the parent company of Beall's Department Stores Inc., Beall's Outlet Stores Inc., and Burke's Outlet Stores LLC. The company has more than 530 retail stores nationwide.
