Bango moves forward with direct carrier billing initiative

Bango Boost is intended to help mobile network operators and app stores entice consumers to buy more digital goods.

Direct carrier biller Bango this week announced the second-phase rollout of its Bango Boost initiative to enable mobile network operators and app stores to entice consumers to buy more digital goods, according to a press release.

Bango said that Bango Boost is a technology that provides a detailed analysis of carrier billing transactions to allow a clear understanding of user spending behavior and user experience. Bango Boost identifies opportunities to grow end user spend through the Bango Payment Platform and recommends ways for MNOs to increase revenue and improve the conversion rate from carrier billing in app stores. Following a strong increase in customer spend and positive feedback from three MNOs who piloted the initiative, Bango has commenced the rollout of Bango Boost to six additional MNOs.

Bango did not reveal which MNOs are using the technology.

Bango said the three initial MNOs using Bango Boost benefited from  a 22–39 perecent uplift in end user spend compared with normal growth arising from factors including the increasing user base and spend per user. These MNOs will continue to use the service to identify more opportunities to increase spending in app stores, according to the announcment.

"I am very pleased to see the positive results and enthusiastic feedback from our mobile operator partners as we deploy our technology and start to benefit from our unique industry position," Bango CEO Ray Anderson said in a statement. "We aim to enable the leading app stores to maximize the opportunities in the growing market for direct carrier billing."
