Apple trackers at 9to5Mac.com posted last week about an alleged workaround that allows hackers to obtain apps from Apple's in-app payment platform for free. According to the site, the hack was first identified by Russian developer. 

According to the post, the hack requires little to make it work and can be accomplished by even a novice hacker. (Details on the hack are available in the 9to5Mac.com post.)

The hack doesn't work on every app, and it seems there are ways for developers to protect against it. Apple has responded to tech site The Loop and said it is looking into the matter.

"The security of the App Store is incredibly important to us and the developer community," Apple representative Natalie Harrison, told The Loop. "We take reports of fraudulent activity very seriously and we are investigating."

The idea of a security issue with Apple's App Store is particularly worrisome given recent discussions of the company leveraging the App Store — and the 400 million credit cards on file there — into some sort of mobile payment product.
