All-in-one Android smartphone mPOS device on its way

Hong Kong-based BBPOS announced it is set to launch its new WisePOS, which features full Android smartphone functionality.

Hong Kong-based BBPOS Monday announced it is set to launch its new WisePOS, which the company touts as an all-in-one Android smartphone mPOS device.

This latest generation WisePOS is an all-in-one device, including full Android smartphone functionality, according to a press release. There is no need for installation, and no need for additional plug-in device to conduct mPOS transactions. Multiple connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth and GPRS, according to the announcement.

WisePOS’s list of features include:

  • Magstripe, EMV, and contactless acceptance
  • Full Android smartphone functionality
  • 4-inch WVGA display
  • Secure PIN pad
  • Optional barcode scanner
  • SDK for Android development
  • Remote firmware update and encryption key injection
