Alibaba, a Chinese online retailer, has filed a patent for a blockchain domain name management system. The purpose of the system is to share information across multiple blockchains.

The system would generate a unified blockchain domain name which would include a digital signature of the owner and a domain certificate to transfer to another blockchain.

"The UBCDN message includes a blockchain domain name and a chain identifier of the blockchain instance uniquely corresponding to the blockchain domain name," the patent said.

The receiver can verify whether this name is issued by a trusted certificate authority by ,"Using a public key of the CA; and verifying whether the UBCDN is issued by the UBCDN owner using a public key of the UBCDN owner," the patent said.
