AIB promotes P2P contactless payments with NFC posters

Allied Irish Bank is promoting its Me2U app for mobile P2P transfers via an NFC-enabled poster campaign.

The Me2U app allows AIB's phone and Internet banking customers to send money from their Euro-denominated personal AIB Visa debit or credit cards to a recipient's Euro personal Visa credit, debit or prepaid card. The recipient's card can be issued by any bank.

Senders either select a recipient from their smartphone contact list or enter the recipient's mobile number or Visa card number. The app is available for Apple and Android devices.

Payments within AIB are processed within 30 minutes, while payments to other financial institutions can take up to one business day, AIB said on its website.

After an introductory period, standard fees and charges apply to Me2U AIB debit card transactions. There are no transaction fees for Me2U AIB Visa credit cards, the bank said.

AIB is publicizing the Me2U app via an advertising campaign using posters in cinema lobbies, bus shelters and phone kiosks. The posters contain a tag that users can tap with their NFC phones to get more information and download the Me2U app, reports outdoor advertising specialist Source out of home, which helped plan the campaign.
