This week, South Africa’s Za Bitcoin ATM announced that it will install the continent’s first Bitcoin ATM sometime toward the end of May.

From the company’s post on the BitcoinTalk bulletin board:

Our company ordered a Lamassu Inc Bitcoin ATM/vending machine around mid Feb this year. We have received news that the item will ship in the next 2-3 days, and arrive shortly thereafter.

The ATM/vending machine will be located in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is generally considered the financial capital of South Africa.

Our next installation will be in Cape Town, South Africa, in about a month from now.

As the first Bitcoin vending machine in Africa (seemingly the last continent requiring this?) we are excited beyond words!
