Adyen announces processing milestones

Global payment processor Adyen has released some results for 2012 and its growth is impressive, especially in mobile processing.

According to the company, it processed more than $10 billion in payment transactions worldwide. That's a 35 percent year-over-year increase. Of that $10 billion in processing, 10.5 percent, or more than $1 billion, was from mobile payments.

Adyen said that mobile payments crossing its platform grew more than 300 percent from 2011, when only 3.5 percent of transactions processed were mobile.

"As digital commerce continues to evolve and expand beyond borders and traditional channels, merchants are demanding more from their payment solution providers than mere transaction processing," said Pieter van der Does, CEO of Adyen. He added that his company's growth exemplified the value Adyen brings to merchants.

Based in Amsterdam, with offices around the world, Adyen processes online and mobile payments for more than 2,500 companies worldwide, including Crocs, Benetton, Soundcloud and Vodafone. Its platform supports 200 payment methods, 187 transaction currencies and 14 settlement currencies.
