98point6 raises $50M in Series C funding led by Goldman Sachs

98point6, a Seattle-based telemedicine startup, announced that it raised $50 million in Series C funding led by Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division along with other existing investors.

Company officials said the funding would be used to scale its text-based primary care business, expand its services and teams of doctors and expand the capabilities of its technology platform. The AI-based telemedicine service is now available in 40 U.S. states and Washington D.C., and the company said it will expand to all 50 states by early 2019.

In May, the firm, led by CEO and co-founder Robbie Cape, announced the launch of its on-demand primary care service that provides healthcare to customer smartphones and offered care in 10 states. Iin September 2017, the firm had raised $19.5 million in Series B funding.

Company officials said they also will expand into new markets, including health plans, health systems and higher education. Thus far, 98point6 has contracted with 27 companies nationwide across a range of industries, including Seattle Children’s Hospital, Aegis Living and Zone Inc.,  and expects to have about 100,000 members under contract through their companies by the end of 2018.

Company officials said the service, which can be found on Google Play, the Apple App Store and the www.98point6.com website,  is available through company-sponsored plans and direct-to-consumer for insured and uninsured adults over age 18.
