7-Eleven launches mobile voice ordering through Amazon Echo, Google Home

7-Eleven Inc. announced Monday the launch of 7Voice, which lets customers order through its 7NOW delivery app using Google Home or Amazon Echo voice-controlled smart speakers.

By using simple voice commands to open the 7NOW delivery app, customers can order a wide variety of beverages, fresh and hot foods, snacks, cosmetics, home goods and other products sold by the convenience store chain for home delivery within 30 minutes, according to a press release.

"We continuously challenge ourselves to find even more ways to offer convenience and value to our customers, when and where people need it most," Raghu Mahadevan, vice president of digital and delivery at 7-Eleven, said in the release. "7Voice takes 7NOW ordering from screen to voice, enabling customers to order in whatever way they prefer that is most convenient to them."

The 7NOW app auto identifies the location of customers and places the order from the nearest 7-Eleven store. Delivery for the first 7NOW order is free and regular delivery fees are $3.99, the company said.

The 7NOW service is available in more than 34 metropolitan areas and has made more than one million deliveries.
