VTB Bank intros cloud-based mobile payments in Georgia

The app, Mobile Pay, is for NFC-enabled Android devices.

Digital issuance and open wallet platform provider, PriNum, and VTB Bank have launched what they say is the first NFC-based mobile payments bank application in the eastern European country of Georgia. The app, Mobile Pay, is for NFC-enabled Android devices, according to a press release.

The companies said the VTB Georgia app is based on the PrimeKit platform, which is described as a multicredential end-to-end cloud-based software solution that enables secure contactless mobile services such as payments, loyalty, and tickets. It is token-ready, supports mobile wallet application services and complies with Visa and MasterCard
requirements for cloud-based payments, according to the announcement.

“We have launched the project with VTB Georgia and Visa in an astoundingly short period of time," PriNum Founder Eugene Zimin said in a statement. "It has taken us less than three months from the day we have signed the contract to an official start on October 9. Remarkably, none of our developers has actually visited Georgia for installation and testing – all the works have been done remotely from Kyiv, Ukraine."
