Discover has accredited UL to perform functional-type approval services for the brand's mobile D-payment application specification. As part of this accreditation, UL will be able to assist mobile secure element manufacturers with verification of mobile D-PAS payment on their products, according to a UL press release.

"We are very pleased with the expansion of our Discover test services portfolio, which adds to our one-stop shop strategy for the accredited certification services we offer for different brands and industry organizations," said Erwin Jansen, managing director for EMEA and LA at the UL transaction security division. "This accreditation will greatly benefit our customers, as it will streamline the certification process, reduce time to market, and enable interoperable and compliant devices."

The service is available from UL's U.K. laboratory. Functional requirements for verification are defined in the Discover mobile D-PAS type approval specification.
