Swedes get Swish for P2P payments
SEB, a Nordic financial services group, has announced the launch of its mobile P2P service, Swish, in cooperation with Danske Bank, Handelsbanken, Länsförsäkringar Bank, Nordea, Swedbank and Sparbankerna.
Using the Swish app, users can securely send money to one another in real time with just their mobile phone numbers. The Swish service connects those numbers to bank accounts.
"This is a quick, simple and secure way to pay via mobile phone. Through this cooperation with other banks in Sweden, we provide the opportunity for our customers to transfer money seamlessly from their own mobile phones to a bank account," said Mats Torstendahl, head of retail banking at SEB.
Swish will be available for iOS and Android devices beginning December 12.
