Square makes it easier to order a fancy coffee drink
New Order app features include arrival prediction for preorders and buyer preference for order customization.
Square has announced a new feature to its Order app that enables customers to order from their phone anytime and pick up fresh coffee whenever they are ready, according to a press release.
Customers in San Francisco and New York can use the order-ahead option on either iOS or Android. As customers approach these cafes, they will find baristas already preparing their drink. Then they are automatically charged as they walk out without having to take any additional steps.
Square Order's new features include:
- Arrival prediction: With this technology, buyers can pre-order knowing that their order will be ready when they arrive the same or next day. Sellers get alerts to prepare orders when the buyer is close by, providing hot coffee and a cool experience.
- Buyer preference: Daily order customizations are saved so people can easily find their favorites within the app and quickly make their order in just a few taps.
Blue Bottle Coffee is one of the first businesses to use Square Order's new features.
"We're always looking for new ways to foster hospitality at our stores and acknowledge regular guests," said James Freeman, Blue Bottle founder and CEO. "We are excited to partner with Square to continue to offer a quality experience for our guests while serving coffee in a much more streamlined fashion."
