Square intends to make tax prep easier

Mobile POS provider partners with TaxJar, an online service that manages sales tax filing for e-commerce merchants.

TaxJar, the online service that manages sales tax filing for e-commerce merchants, today announced in a press release the availability of its service to all Square sellers.

"Preparing and managing sales tax is a necessity for businesses of all sizes," Mark Faggiano, CEO of TaxJar, said in a press release. "Now, TaxJar can free Square sellers from the burden of sales tax compliance for yet another major sales channel, while saving them valuable time."

Through the integration, Square sellers can connect their sales data with TaxJar to automate tasks associated with remittance to state and local jurisdictions. TaxJar reports each state that requires a sales tax responsibility, accurately calculates how much tax was collected by a local jurisdiction, and tracks various state filing deadlines. Combining Square sales data with TaxJar provides sellers with better access to automated sales tax information across all of their channels in a single report and shows a more comprehensive view of their business, according to the announcement.

TaxJar joins QuickBooks, Xero and other solutions that have integrated with Square to help their merchants' operations and save time, Square said in the release. Pricing for TaxJar starts as low as $9.95 per month for small businesses doing fewer than 1,000 transactions per month. TaxJar currently offers a 30-day free trial to any new user.
