Real estate purchasing goes mobile

Realtycloud's iOS app uses Mitek Systems' API to enable buyers, sellers, their agents and real estate investors to complete the majority of the home purchase process on an iPhone or iPad.

Mitek Systems Inc. this week announced the first in a series of mobile products designed to facilitate the real estate purchasing process and associated transactions from realtycloud, an iOS app that enables buyers, sellers, their agents and real estate investors to complete the majority of the home purchase process on an iPhone or iPad.

"Our developer program is designed to enable developers across industries to integrate mobile imaging into their apps to create a better user experience and streamline business processes," James B. DeBello, president and CEO of Mitek, said in a statement. “It’s exciting to see realtycloud utilizing our check API, the same technology used in mobile deposit, to fund escrow accounts and improve a critical component of the real estate transaction process.”

"Today, mobile realty apps lack integration, making it very challenging for buyers to use a single app to expedite the majority of a real estate transaction," said Paul Doughty, founder and CEO of realtycloud. "We selected only the best mobile technologies to integrate into our app which is why we became part of the Mitek Developer program. As a Mitek Developer, we got access to the same technology used by 33 million consumers and the nation’s top financial institutions. This gave us confidence that our customers would have a simple, fun and safe experience directly depositing escrow funds."

Realtycloud said in the announcement that its app mobilizes complex processes that are currently paper intensive, and require a computer, scanner, fax machine, as well as mailing or other physical delivery of documentation. In addition to Mitek’s mobile check technology, the realtycloud app integrates MLS data into an online contract, allows for electronic signatures on contracts and addendums, and integrates title and settlement services as well as payment processing, according to the press release.

Users in any U.S. state can quickly make an offer on a property using realtycloud, the company said. Users in Massachusetts, Florida, and Texas have full functionality to complete the purchasing process. Realtycloud will be rolling out the full functionality in other states in the near future.

Realtycloud is a member of the Mitek Developers program. This program gives developers worldwide access to Mitek’s patented mobile capture SDK and server technology to capture, recognize and extract information from any document with four corners. Developers are using this award-winning photo technology to create apps that improve the mobile user experience for consumers and enterprises.
