Razormind to launch 2 blockchain banks in Europe

Razormind, a blockchain software company, has announced plans to construct two blockchain banks in Europe, one in Belfast and another in Paris by 2017. The banks will offer mobile payments services for bitcoin, local payments and access to its public record solution, DeOS, according to a press release.

The DeOS platform will act as a global record of ownership and identity that is powered by the blockchain. It is designed to perform tasks across thousands of computers at once, essentially acting as a "publically owned supercomputer," according to the release. Users can interact with the DeOS by using the DeOS desktop that allows users to create and store files in privacy. For businesses, DeOS acts as a Blockchain-as-a-service platform for smart contracts and decentralized storage.

On the banking side, Razomind will offer zero-interest, short-term loans for Belfast customers who would normally have to turn to payday loans with high interest rates. The company also plans to invest in other local banking options such as bitcoin ATMs.

"Innovation is about shaping the world into a better one each day, and that the time for tackling poverty and predatory loan practices is now," Phil Sturgeon, director of operations, Razormind said in the release. "To spur growth in Northern Ireland and France and develop blockchain systems that offer advantages to everyone in the economy is very exciting. The central commitment to corporate social responsibility is good for the community, good for business and good for the European economy."
