Plastiq intros mobile photo bill pay app
Users can pay a bill with a credit or debit card after snapping a photo.
A startup named Plastiq has introduced a free iPhone app that allows users to pay a bill with a credit or debit card by snapping a photo, according to multiple media reports.
After the user takes a photo of the bill, the app identifies information such as the biller's name, the amount due and the due date. The app can then remind the user when the bill is due and charge the payment to the appropriate credit or debit card. Plastiq said it can facilitate card payments even if the biller does not normally accept plastic.
Plastiq charges a service fee of anywhere between 1 percent and 2.5 percent.
The app is available to users in Canada and the U.S.
