PayPoint acquires Adaptis Services and snags Paris parking contract

PayByPhone, part of PayPoint PLC, today announced in a press release two recent developments, including the acquisition of Adaptis Solutions and partnership to launch cashless parking in Paris.

PayPoint PLC has acquired Adaptis Services Limited, which provides a wide range of parking services, including electronic parking permits, automatic license plate recognition for parking lot enforcement and violation notices. Adaptis Solutions is one of the U.K.'s fastest growing cashless payment processors, according to the press release. Adaptis developed DASH, a transactional processing platform that allows merchants to accept payments from customers using a range of technologies, and has developed a suite of parking technology services around this platform.

PayPoint said the deal will strengthen PayByPhone's position in the industry, expanding its range of parking products into permits, violations and improving PayByPhone's capacity to bid for bundled contracts.

"The acquisition of Adaptis is an exciting step in the ongoing development of PayPoint's mobile and online strategy and strengthens our leading position in the parking and urban mobility sectors," Kush Parikh, president of PayPoint North America, said in a press release. "It brings a highly capable team with strong client relationships and a reputation for rapid innovation."

The City of Paris has confirmed that the partnership of PayByPhone and VINCI Park has been awarded the contract to launch cashless parking for 155,000 parking spaces, according to the press release. Initially available in central Paris in summer 2014, PayByPhone will be extended to residential and business parking areas by fall 2014 and will be introduced to all other areas of the city by the end of 2015.

The Adaptis product suite will be featured at PayByPhone & PayPoint’s Exhibit (Booth #501) at the International Parking Institute Conference and Expo June 1-4 in Dallas, the company also announced.
