Mt. Gox lawsuit dismissed by Canadian court

A class-action lawsuit against the defunct bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox has been dismissed in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The complaint, filed by Charney Lawyers PC, sought to collect damages on behalf of Canadians who lost bitcoin when the Mt. Gox exchange failed, according to a report by Econo Times.

The court has published a notice saying that the action will be dismissed on June 17. Individuals can pursue their own claims, in accordance with regulations governing their jurisdictions.

In 2013, Mt. Gox was processing 70 percent of all bitcoin transactions. In February 2014, the exchange suddenly collapsed and users lost 744,400 bitcoins with a value at the time of $350 million. Some users have been able to get back their bitcoin with help from the Kraken bitcoin exchange.
