More retailers to accept MasterPass

Blue Nile, Neiman Marcus, Office Depot and Rue La La among the latest merchants who plan to offer MasterCard's digital wallet service at checkout.

MasterCard today announced that several major merchants have committed to enable MasterPass for online checkout, according to a press release.

Accepted in 16 countries, MasterPass will soon also be available for online customers of Blue Nile, Broadway.com, Chegg, Fareportal-CheapO Air, Market America-Shop.com, Neiman Marcus, Office Depot, and Rue La La. MasterPass also will be available on the American Red Cross site for donations.

"Customer service is at the heart of every decision we make at Neiman Marcus," said John Koryl, president of Neiman Marcus stores and online. "MasterPass will allow our customers the ability to complete purchases quickly, both online and via any mobile device they choose."

MasterPass enables consumers to pay with any enrolled payment card, anywhere — online or in-app — using any device, and is intended to eliminate the time-consuming need to enter detailed payment and shipping information with every purchase.

"Consumers like shopping but paying for things online can be challenging," said Michael Cyr, group executive for North America market development at MasterCard. "MasterPass helps turn every online payment experience into an express checkout lane."

Consumers in the U.S. can set up a MasterPass account by visiting the company's website and signing up with a participating bank such as Citi. Citi offers credit cardholders access to MasterPass via the Citi Wallet.
