Monitise powers new Turkish Airlines mobile apps
The new apps take the customer from planning and purchase through to boarding, all via mobile.
Turkish Airlines, working with Monitise, has launched a new suite of mobile apps available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8 and HTML5. Turkey's national carrier serves nearly 100 countries and carries more than 39 million passengers every year.
The new apps take the customer from planning and purchase through to boarding, all via mobile. Users can view offers from the airline, purchase tickets, check-in, store mobile boarding passes to a passbook, choose seats, order meals, access their flight status and track baggage, according to a Montise press release. The apps also sync with other smartphone functions to allow users to purchase tickets for their contacts and add flights to their calendar.
The apps also integrate Turkish Airlines' loyalty program, 'Miles & Smiles', showing users their miles and available benefits.
Monitise has worked with Turkish Airlines since 2009, and designed and developed the airline's previous 'Fly Turkish' apps for iPhone, BlackBerry, Java and WAP. At the time, these were the first mobile apps and WAP services to be developed for any airline in Turkey, according to the announcement.
Cengiz Değirmenci, online sales and marketing manager at Turkish Airlines, said of the launch: "As Europe's best airline we need to understand our customers and address their ever-changing needs in the quickest way possible. With the sophisticated new apps we designed and developed with Monitise, our customers will be able to enjoy a much faster, user-friendly, seamless mobile experience on all platforms, with services for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and a mobile site."
