Mobile payments swings into another PGA Tour event

Concession point-of-sale terminals throughout Plainfield Country Club at this weekend's Tour stop will be enabled to accept contactless payments and Qkr! with MasterPass.

MasterCard is once again teaming with the PGA Tour to bring mobile payments to an event, this time at The Barclays in Edison, New Jersey.

Concession point-of-sale terminals throughout Plainfield Country Club at this weekend's Tour stop will be enabled to accept contactless payments and Qkr! with MasterPass. In addition, fans who use their MasterCard with one of these payment options will get a 10 percent discount on their purchase.

Qkr! with MasterPass enables fans to order and pay for concessions at the event directly from their Android or iOS device. The app features MasterPass, MasterCard's digital wallet service that stores payment information in one place.

MasterCard and the PGA Tour partnered to debut contactless payment acceptance at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in January, allowing spectators to use mobile payments platforms for the first time at a Tour event. In March at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, merchandise and concession terminals were also contactless-enabled so that golf fans could make payments using a variety of NFC-enabled devices and services. In 2016, fans will continue to see contactless acceptance as well as Qkr! with MasterPass at a number of events across the PGA Tour calendar, according to the announcement.
