A38 is the best bar in the world, at least according to Lonely Planet. And now the Budapest nightclub is letting patrons purchase tickets for its programs and concerts using a virtual wallet from MasterCard. The MasterCard Mobile application, developed by Cellum Group, has already been downloaded by 75,000 users.

"We want to remain exciting and innovative and keep up with New York, London or Berlin. We constantly look for innovative solutions that make our client's life easier. And that is why we have been among the first to introduce mobile payment," said Benedek Vasák, communications specialist at A38.

Using the A38 website, through either a mobile device or a computer, ticket buyers simply choose "mobile payment" from the list of payment options and enter a mobile phone number. A message is sent through the MasterCard Mobile application installed on the handset to verify the payment using a PIN. Once that happens, the ticket is secured. No personal information or bank card data is transmitted.

"We have had good experience with online ticket sales," Vasák said. "We sell around 140,000 tickets a year, most of which are sold online. MasterCard Mobile ... is simple and secure. Just think about it: You are sitting on the tram, and with a couple of clicks on your handset you can buy a concert ticket. You don't even have to have a bank card on you once you register your telephone number."

Cellum's MasterCard Mobile app has been operating in Hungary for more than a year and can be used at more than 200 locations throughout the country.
