Apple's Passbook app is getting some support.

Passbook is, of course, Apple's de facto mobile wallet that comes with iOS 6, its latest mobile operating system. The app lets users store credentials such as boarding passes, tickets and loyalty programs in one place. Users can then pull up barcodes or QR codes associated with the accounts for scanning.

Boarding passes and accounts are updated in real time, so they reflect details like changes to flights or account balances. What's more, the app can be accessed from the lock screen, meaning that users can get to their mobile wallet quickly.

Starbucks announced via tweet on Friday that it would support Passbook integration for its popular mobile payment program, starting sometime this week. Starbucks patrons will be able to store their cards in Passbook and won't have to open the Starbucks app to pay at the point of sale.

Other companies that are already supporting Passbook — or will be supporting it soon — are retailer Target and several airlines, including United and American.
