MasterCard will launch NFC mobile wallet in Japan

MasterCard is set to introduce a white-label near field communication mobile wallet service in Japan. The service will integrate C-SAM's MasterCard PayPass contactless payment solution and DNP's flexible and scalable mobile wallet, according to a news release.

Beyond contactless payment capabilities, the wallet solution will include services such as loyalty cards and mobile coupons, and will enable merchants and retailers to offer discount programs and deals to customers based on their purchasing history.

According to the release, C-SAM is a secure mobile transactions technology provider, while DNP helps companies develop original mobile wallet service businesses based on C-SAM's Mobile Transaction Platform software. A joint mobile wallet service that integrates C-SAM's MTP and MasterCard contactless technology launched in Singapore in August 2012.

For the Japanese deployment, DNP will provide technical support, including operational support of the IT infrastructure, custom mobile wallet development services and provisioning of the SP-TSM service for PayPass, the release said.
