In Indonesia and Thailand, more than half of e-commerce transactions are now executed from a mobile device. In South Africa, more than 10 million consumers receive government benefits on a mobile device.

Such factoids are hardly breaking news anymore — the growth of mobile payments in overseas markets is a well understood phenomenon within the space. But that growth nonetheless provides substantial business opportunities, as Ed McLaughlin, chief emerging payments officer for MasterCard, discusses in an interview with Rishaad Salamat of Bloomberg TV's "On the Move Asia."
